HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
PRAYING

We are reminded in Ephesians 3:21 that God has an amazing track record of being a great and powerful God who can do incredible things for “the glory of the church.” That reminder is worded by stating that he “is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (v.20). We trust that the preceding pictures and paragraphs have got you “thinking” about the great things God can do at, in, and through Compass. Now it is time to start “asking” him to accomplish them.

One of our distinctives at Compass is to be “reliant on prayer.” We invite you to make “Compass 20/20” a consistent and earnest part of your daily prayer life. May God hear from all of us about our desires to see him glorified at Compass as these goals are realized. Purpose to pray regularly for this important project. Every time you see the “Compass 20/20” logo around the campus, on our website, or on a t-shirt, utilize that visual cue as a prompt to pray. Make it your goal to increase your time in prayer as we enter into this exciting season of “sharpening our focus on what matters most!”

In the months ahead, you will be hearing more on specific ways you can give yourself to prayer for these important matters. There will be occasions to pray together for Compass 20/20, and plenty of specific prayer requests will be provided along the way to aid you in your praying.

GIVING

As Christians we are accustomed to regularly giving to meet the daily ministry needs of our home church as the Bible instructs. For the Compass 20/20 project we are asking that you consider how you might financially contribute beyond your regular offerings to a special 20/20 budget.

We have set this up to be done in two distinct periods. First, please pray as to how you might be able to give an initial upfront gift to 20/20 as we near the end of 2018. As we all participate in a generous year-end gift to the project we will be enabled to purchase the 145 Columbia building and begin to pay the expenses of the campus remodel.

Second , we ask that you would prayerfully consider how you might budget for Compass 20/20 over a 20-month period, starting in January 2019 and ending in August of 2020. Many of the expenses related to this ambitious project will continue to come due throughout this time period. We anticipate that Compass Bible Institute, an expanded and beautifully remodeled campus in Aliso Viejo, and the planting of new Compass churches will all be in sharp focus by the year 2020.

To appropriately budget for the upcoming expenditures we are asking you to let us know what you have decided to budget for Compass 20/20 over those 20 months in 2019 and 2020. Take some time to pray about your financial participation, and then inform us through a provided 20/20 card, the website, or the app.

With each of us giving a generous initial gift in 2018, and our subsequent monthly giving to Compass 20/20 over the 20 months in the following two calendar years, we are determined and hopeful that God will provide in us and through us everything that is needed to see this project completed. And this, we will see, will be only the beginning of all that God will do as a result.

FLEXIBILITY IN THE INTERIM

In the months to come, as God transitions us into our newly reconfigured facilities, there will be plenty of disruption in our weekly meeting spaces. There will also be many challenges related to the set-up and birth of Compass Bible Institute. And, as we have already experienced with the planting of new Compass Bible churches, there will be plenty of demands on us all as we repopulate our own congregation in Aliso Viejo and replenish another set of gifted and dedicated ministry leaders that will be sent off with each plant.

Anticipate a forthcoming provisional schedule of changes affecting classrooms, youth rooms, nurseries, and even the main auditorium—as we will have to vacate for several months during the renovation.

May God grant us the faith, the flexibility and all the resources needed to direct Compass into our next season of multiplied and effective evangelism, discipleship and church-planting.

We will continue to pray for the soon-return of the Lord Jesus Christ, all the while planning in the decades ahead to reach, teach, and train as many people as possible to the glory of God and for the good of his church.
