HOW LONG WILL CONSTRUCTION TAKE AND WHAT ARE THE CONSTRUCTION PHASES?

Phase one will include getting 145 Columbia ready for our administrative offices and the Compass Bible Institute. In phase two we will work on getting 140 Columbia built as a Sunday School building. Phase three will encompass all the work currently planned for 150 Columbia. Our current schedule is to start once we own the building, have the appropriate permits from the City of Aliso Viejo and have secured the funds necessary to complete the improvements.

WHERE WILL WE MEET DURING THE TRANSITION AND WILL SERVICE TIMES CHANGE?

During the reconstruction of the 150 building we will need to move our weekend services and mid-week programs out of the main auditorium. The plan is to hold larger meetings, like Weekend Services, in 120 West. Because that room holds half the capacity of the main auditorium, it will require us to add additional service times to our normal three weekend services. The time for this service has not yet been determined, but we will give plenty of notice beforehand so that our highly committed participants can plan for the necessary adjustments to their schedules.

HOW MANY SEATS WILL THE REDESIGNED AUDITIORIUM HAVE?

We expect to have an additional 120 seats in the auditorium when it is completed.

HOW MANY CLASSROOMS WILL COMPASS BIBLE INSTITUTE HAVE?

The current plan shows 3 large classrooms in 145 Columbia

HOW MUCH PARKING ARE WE LOSING WITH THE ADDITION OF THE NEW INTERNAL COMPASS COURTYARD?

NONE! We will actually be gaining about 90 full-time use spaces with the acquisition of the 145 building. The parking spots that are lost have been relocated to other areas within the Columbia Corporate Center. The Compass Courtyard will be created in between our 120 building and the 150 building where we currently have no usable parking spaces. Since we will no longer need to block the 25 spaces at the front of the 150 building for our current courtyard, that will free up those spaces as well for full-time use.

HOW MUCH MONEY WAS RAISED FOR PROJECT 2014 AND WHAT WILL BE DONE WITH THAT?

Approximately $2,700,000 dollars was raised and set aside from Project 2014. The Projects’ goals were to plant Compass Bible Church Huntington Beach in September 2014 and to acquire a property that Compass AV is currently renting. Since the purchase of the building is not possible, the leadership of Compass Aliso Viejo has decided to transfer all the remaining funds from Project 2014 to Compass 20/20. A letter detailing this plan was sent to every contributor to Project 2014. If you have any questions about this matter please let us know.

WILL WE STILL BE ABLE TO HOLD EVENTS LIKE FALL FEST AND EASTER SERVICES ON OUR CHURCH CAMPUS AFTER EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED?

YES! In fact, the newly redesigned campus is being constructed in such a way that would make these events even more community friendly. Our hope is that we would be able to do even more outreach events like Bible storytimes, holiday events and children’s activities to draw more people to our church.

HOW LONG HAS THE BIBLE INSTITUTE BEEN TALKED ABOUT BY THE PASTORS?

For many years our pastors have discussed the need for a more practical and ministerially-based theological education of church planters and church leaders. The initiation of our annual “Compass Nights” in 2007 was an informal version of what had been envisioned. Compass Night was made available for the “Highly Committed Participants” within our church, but it had always been hoped that this might become something more structured with a broader reach and to include practical ministry training. The Compass Bible Institute will be the answer to this long-held aspiration.

WHO WILL RUN THE COMPASS BIBLE INSTITUTE?

The plan for Compass Bible Institute is to hire a full-time experienced administrator who can oversee operations of the Institute with input and guidance by our Compass leadership team.

HOW LONG IS THE ESCROW ON THE 145 BUILDING? ARE THERE LOAN CONTINGENCIES IF WE CAN’T BUY IT WITHOUT FINANCING?

The building is scheduled to close no later than December 26, 2018. Yes, we are working with lenders who have shown an interest in providing financing for the building.
